Child safety

How we protect children

SYNQ brings people from the neighbourhood together who want to do something together. An account is available from 16. This page describes our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation.

What we do not tolerate

Every form of child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited on SYNQ. This includes child sexual abuse material, soliciting minors for sexual contact (grooming), sexualising minors, and any offer of or search for such content or contact.

This applies everywhere in SYNQ: in profiles, SYNQs, groups, spots, pictures and messages.

How to report something

If a child is in danger: call 110 or 112. SYNQ cannot help in an emergency.

In the app you report any profile, SYNQ, group, spot or message from the menu on the content — choose "Child safety". Without an account, use our report form at synq.community/legal/report; you do not need to give your name there.

What we do

A child-safety report reaches our team at once as an urgent message on their phones, and a person looks at it. Public texts and pictures are also checked automatically: a public SYNQ, group or spot in which the check recognises sexual content involving minors is removed at once, and nude pictures are removed too.

If a violation is confirmed, we remove the content and ban the account permanently. Information about a criminal offence that threatens the life or safety of a person — child sexual abuse among them — we pass on to the competent law enforcement authorities (Art. 18 Digital Services Act).

Contact

For questions about child safety at SYNQ — including from authorities — contact Leonard Reidel: hello@synq.community, PeopleConnect GmbH, Kleiner Exerzierplatz 4, 94032 Passau. We answer in German and English.
